The City of Phoenix owns and operates the Phoenix Airport System, which consists of Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport and Goodyear Airport.
Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX), Phoenix Deer Valley (DVT) and Phoenix Goodyear (GYR) Airports have a long-standing commitment to environmental health and livability for the Phoenix metro area.
The City of Phoenix Aviation Department has created a Sustainability Management Plan as the guiding document to build on its record of achievements in sustainability efforts.
Focus Areas for the Sustainability Management Plan address economic, environmental, and social sustainability through seven key focus areas:
Air Quality—Supporting initiatives to maintain and improve our local air quality
Greenhouse Gas Emissions—Minimizing greenhouse gases produced from the operation of the Phoenix airports
Energy—Investing in renewable and energy efficient technologies to reduce energy consumption and costs
Outreach—Working with our neighbors, business partners, and passengers to improve our community and build upon the success of Phoenix Sky Harbor’s Community Noise Reduction Program
Policies and Contracts—Integrating economic, environmental, and social sustainability into the Aviation Department’s business practices
Waste and Recycling— Reducing waste and increasing recycling opportunities for passengers, airport tenants, and employees
Water Conservation—Minimizing water consumption for airport operations and landscaping
